Relationships are complex, amazing and exciting. But two people in a relationship can lose their sparks. Especially when there comes a day they wake up in the morning and realize that something’s missing.

Romantic relationships are always considered as an idea of loving, and being happy. But as we know, love is not perfect.
You and your significant other got to know each other too well. Things have become a routine and the excitement seems to fade away. There are times you start doubting their capacity of loving you.
It’s time for you to get some self-introspection and highlight these 3 things:

#1 Learn to Understand Before Trying to Be Understood

The most common problem is we listen to the reply, not to understand. When your significant makes a mistake, and he/she tried to give an explanation. You listen to them to look up their mistakes. Instead of considering their effort in making things right.
And when you get into a fight, even over the trivial things, you often play the blame game. You put yourself in defensive mode which is making things worse. Instead, you have to look for the core problem then find its solution together. Stop blaming and start creating the relationship you want.

#2 Recognize The Balance Between Give and Take

Give-and-take is a mechanism to all personal relationships. You cannot expect to receive something if you don’t offer on your own turn. Balance in give-and-take is needed. It’s even better if you give more without expecting something in return. Though mutual benefit is what keeps every relationship steady.
Sometimes you become selfish consciously. You secretly hope your significant other showers you with affection and attention. And if they don’t fulfill your expectations, you’ll lash out or turn out to be silent for the rest of the day. But you forget to understand what he exactly needs and wants. Don’t be passive aggressive. Communicate it with your significant other. There are a lot of problems caused by miss and or lack of communication.

#3 Appreciate The Similarities and Respect The Differences

Similarities bring you together. But, differences exist to complete each other not to destroy. It depends on how you look at them.
Sometimes you happen to find out unacceptable characters of your significant other. But you cannot demand them to be your idea of perfect significant other. Because it’s supposed to be loving them instead of loving the idea of them.
When it happens, remember the moments and reasons why they became important and special to you in the first place. Trust that those things are still true despite the differences. Relationships grow and flourish when you invest and nurture them.
Last but not least, don’t forget to appreciate every little effort they put to make you happy. Being grateful is essential in having a healthy relationship.
