It is the annual fundraising gala for the Custome Institute that held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Met Gala event starts with the exhibition. Each year they have a different theme from the historical period of fashion to tribute to individual fashion innovators. Some of the designers have been chosen as the fashion innovator and show their work from the nobody to somebody. some very well know name already become the innovators such as Paul Poiret, Alexander McQueen, Gianni Versace to Jacqueline Kennedy.

The first Met Gala started in 1971 with ‘Fashion Plate’ as the theme at that moment. People known that Met Gala is one of Anna Wintour’s baby. Besides she is the Vogue editor-in-chief, she also the chair of Met Gala since 1995. She manages both the benefit committee and also the guest list. If you want to be part of the Met Gala or just want to be there as a guest you need to pay the ticket that cost around $25.000 and it raised every year due to the exclusivity of the event.

Well for this year Met Gala, they choose Rei Kawakubo a Japanese designer also the founder of Comme des Garcons to be their honoree. The 2017 exhibition called Rei Kawakubo/ Commes des Garcons: Art of the In-Between. In this exhibition, it will show around 150 of her womenswear creation from early 1980.

Rei and her brand Comme des Garcons grow and created so many fine pieces that make fans adore it. Not just people that live in Japan but also around the world. Another brand also like to collaborate with Rei, one of them is H&M. She produced really edgy, casual and very Rei but affordable to young people.
